The purpose of a system is what it does. What unbridled capitalism has done is create obscene inequity, war, destruction of the environment, etc., ad infinitude. It’s useless to say that capitalism wasn’t meant to create those things. It did, so that is its purpose. And you don’t change the purpose of a system. You replace it.
