Comparisons of this type are always made to the same period time a year prior. It’s a way of controlling for as many factors as possible, and it eliminates other factors that are current. What such a comparison shows is that — an entire year ago, when things were not like today, in the same 18-hour window as now, the NYC poison center was called 13 times for household product exposure emergencies, but in the current time frame — IMMEDIATELY after the president’s statements, that number doubled — AND the specific products he mentioned were the majority of those calls.

This is not “data”, as you call it, but a kind of barometer. It might be better if we read the barometer and use it effectively, rather than stand in the pouring rain and claim we’re not getting wet.

“Heaven is a library of every book ever written, eternity to sit and read, and a bottomless cup of the best coffee.”
